I was dissatisfied with my consultation. I scheduled an appointment for an IUI consultation, but Dr. Hill focused on IVF throughout. When I clarified that my consultation was for IUI only, Dr. Hill stated that IUI was a waste of time and money. Why offer IUI procedures if the intention is to discourage couples from pursuing it? I found Dr. Hill's approach to be overly promotional, pushing IVF as the sole viable option.

I reached out to FCNE via their online portal to see if I could be seen for IUI. I have already undergone fertility testing with my OBGYN and began medicated cycles, but was unable to get IUI as my insurance requires IUI be done by a reproductive endocrinologist. I explained in the online portal. I soon after got an email from their director of concierge services explaining the consult appointment/required testing and the email stated β€œFor female patients we require a BMI of under 36% or less due to anesthesia requirement as we are an outpatient facility.” I emailed back reiterating what I stated in the online portal regarding having already undergone testing and having an established treatment plan. I informed them my BMI was greater than 36% and inquired if that would automatically exclude me from their services altogether, even though I was not looking for any services that would require anesthesia. I received a very short email back from the director stating they would not pursue treatment with me or see me for a consult to discuss services until my BMI was under 36%. This place needs to do some serious work on better understanding their patient demographic. I’ve been dealing with endometriosis for years which has directly contributed to my weight, along with the stress of having been so unwell for so long, without answers, getting the run around from providers, etc. Now on top of the stress of dealing with infertility. Again, all things which significantly contribute to weight gain. The patients they are seeing are coming to them during a very emotionally taxing time, and they do absolutely nothing to offer support. I fully understand having certain guidelines and policies they need to follow, but the insensitive nature in which they deliver this message is disgusting. At the very least they could offer resources and support to help people who are seeking fertility services to become eligible candidates, or offer alternatives. To be rejected so quickly and harshly during a time when a family already feels so hopeless regarding their inability to conceive is so inappropriate.

The treatments are ridiculously expensive, and the care teams are incredibly rude. You never know who's going to respond to your message, nobody is direct, just constant indirect rudeness and insensitivity while they drain your wallet. I did successfully get pregnant but I cried every time I had to speak to them. They need sensitivity training and maybe entirely new staff. So condescending, and STILL do not answer your questions. It has taken them a week and 4 responses and nobody has bothered to actually look at the one PDF I sent them for my evaluation labs. Constant barrage of nonsense and belittling.

When I first learned that FCNE was opening in Maine, I was thrilled, however, it was a huge disappointment and I will not be quiet about how disappointed I am. Dr. Hill was rushed, hardly let me get a word in, and frankly wasted mine and my husband's time. I was referred out due to my weight within 5 minutes of the conversation. FCNE could have declined me an appointment based on my weight, which while unjust,Β would have saved us all some time.Any medical guidance based on BMI (Bad Medical Information) is biased and discriminatory. I urge the entire practice to engage in some weight inclusive training and recommend starting with The Associates for Size Diversity and HealthΒ and learning more about Health at Every Size. Furthermore, the moment that I began to advocate for myself, Dr. Hill cut me off, spoke over me, and did not listen to what I was saying. He continued speaking at me and I made the decision to end the call as I do not tolerate disrespect from anyone, especially providers who are meant to support me.

DO NOT GO HERE, they are liars and thieves. They tell you that the first consult is free, but it is not; they say you can make a payment plan and continue treatment, but that's a lie. My wife and I have been seeing them for months, and have only met with the doctor one time for the "free" initial consult, and were forced to redo a bunch of testing that we had already done and they had in our medical records, simply so they could bill for doing it all again. Now we owe them hundreds of dollars for literally nothing and they have put a hold on our account and until it is paid in full we are not able to continue treatment. Well, I say continue treatment, but really we're not able to START treatment because they have done nothing for us, literally the only thing they've done is the initial consult and redoing the testing that had already been done. They are not trying to help you with fertility, they are simply taking your money.
